Be used as pesticide intermediate, mainly used as an intermediate in the manufacture of the insecticide bupropion cresol.
It is also used in the production of lubricants to reduce the viscosity of high-viscosity oils. It is widely used as a solvent for resins, waxes, greases, paints, and plastics to remove naphthalene deposits in gas industry equipment. Blended with alcohol and benzene as fuel for internal combustion engines. It is also used as a degreaser, softener, absorbent for low-boiling organic compound vapors, insect repellent and substitute for turpentine. Applicationd as paint, varnish, metal soap, chlorinated rubber, wax, grease, resin and other solvents, ink stain remover, liquid desiccant and recycled rubber. It can be mixed with all organic solvents except water. It is a solvent with a wide range of dissolution. It has strong dissolving power especially for oils and fats. Therefore, it is used for degreasing and washing of cotton, rayon and wool in the fiber industry. In addition, it has universal solubility to resins and can be used as a detergent to remove resin stains.
